An exciting, busy, and joyful 2017 is coming to an end, and for Levi, no all of us really, it means a lot of changes are coming up. We have all become so used to our new routine of me staying home with the kids, being in charge of a lot of the household chores, and a bit more family focused and relaxed life. 2018 means going back to work for me and therefore a much tighter schedule for everyone.
This last week of December was the kids' first week at their new childcare center. It's a brand new location for them, so only a few kids are enrolled. While Noah and Ava are super excited about the new place, all of the new toys, kids, and teachers, Levi's transitioning hasn't been as easy.
At eight months old, he is so used to being with me almost 24/7 and is fully aware of the abrupt change. I'm glad he gets to still hang out with Ava and Noah during the day until more kids are enrolled, which I'm sure makes the transition easier. The first day wasn't ideal, but after only three days he's been doing much better. He wants to be held a lot, but again, since he's currently the only infant enrolled, he is getting lots of special attention and bonding time, which is great. One problem we're facing is that he is refusing the bottle. I can't blame him, milk straight from the source is so much better. He's been eating some solids and snacks though during the day, and let me tell you, he is sure making up for it at night. I'm not excited about the sleepless nights for me, but I'm hopeful that as he's getting more comfortable there, this will change. I'm glad I decided to have this transition time before my first full week back at work.
What else happened last month? Levi celebrated his first Christmas. Santa and Santa's helpers brought him a wooden toy activity cube, sippy cups, and onesies. We spent a very relaxing and sunny week in Phoenix, AZ where Levi went swimming in a pool for the first time. The kids got to meet Santa at a Story Time with Santa event at a bookstore, and Levi didn't mind sitting on his lap for a quick photo.
In terms of milestones, his first tooth is finally coming in; he is still scooting around like a champ, but isn't crawling yet. Levi loves climbing onto us and even managed to climb onto Ava's mattress all by himself. We did have to lower the mattress in his crib because he started to pull himself up. He can't yet sit on his own and prefers to stand holding on to his activity cube he got for Christmas.
Clothes in size 12m are getting small, so are size 3 diapers. Once the next Amazon Subscribe & Save shipment with size 4 diapers arrives, we're ready to switch. Levi still loves all kinds of food: rice cakes, food pouches, apple sauce, multi grain baby cereal, pasta, meat, baby puffs, avocado, bananas, peas, etc.
He has been enjoying bath time in the kitchen sink.
We also had a babysitter come over for the first time in December, so Tony and I could attend a work holiday party. I was so nervous about it, but Levi did much better than expected. I'm glad, because one of our goals for 2018 is to go out on a date once a month.
